We are the flying club at RWTH Aachen University, and we offer students the opportunity to learn to fly gliders and obtain a glider pilot\u2019s licence in a student environment.<\/p>\n

Our more experienced pilots regularly take part in cross-country flying camps and competitions. You can also train with us to obtain an aerobatics licence and become a flight instructor!<\/p>\n

Our regional group of Ingenieure ohne Grenzen comprises around 100 active members from all age groups and professions. We are involved in various sub-groups working on technical projects within the field of international development cooperation. Together, we plan and build infrastructure to improve the living conditions of local people. In addition to our project work, we meet regularly to run workshops, plan regional group-wide initiatives or simply spend time together.<\/p>\n

The Sonnenwagen Aachen team is a student initiative at RWTH Aachen University dedicated to the development and construction of solar-powered racing cars. Every two years, the team of around 50 members designs and builds a new solar car powered exclusively by solar energy. The aim is to develop innovative technologies for sustainable mobility whilst gaining practical engineering experience.<\/p>\n

With the finished vehicle, the team takes part in international competitions, in particular the European Solar Challenge in Belgium and the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia, one of the world\u2019s most prestigious solar car races.<\/p>\n

Ecurie Aix was founded in 1999 by students at RWTH Aachen University and is one of the oldest German Formula Student teams. Since our inception, we have been building racing cars, which have evolved from combustion-engine vehicles to fully electric and autonomous vehicles. With an interdisciplinary team spirit, we compete annually in the world\u2019s largest international engineering competition and demonstrate how our work combines technical innovation with practical experience. All this is done with the aim of enhancing performance, efficiency and team cohesion.<\/p>\n

Our repertoire includes a wide range of pieces, including works by Vaughan Williams, Rutter, Mendelssohn and Bernstein. Every Tuesday we meet from 7.45 pm in the main hall of the KHG to sing together. Whether you have experience or not, you\u2019re very welcome to join us! As a special highlight, we organise a rehearsal weekend about once a year, where we not only work intensively on our music but also strengthen our sense of community. Here, fun and music take centre stage! In addition to the rehearsal weekend, we have several larger and smaller performances throughout the year, where we share the pieces we\u2019ve worked on with others. We are the AYC, an Aachen-based sailing club with strong links to RWTH Aachen University. Having emerged from the Sailing Technology Working Group (StAG), we are involved not only in sailing but also in the design and construction of boats. Here you\u2019ll meet students and staff from Aachen\u2019s universities. Together we sail on Lake Rur and, on our annual group trips, along the European coast.
Our club life is characterised by our weekly club evenings with relaxed chats at the bar and regular sailing camps. We also organise the largest regatta on Lake Rur, the Blaue Band, every year.<\/p>\n

Musicals combine drama, music and dance \u2013 we have been sharing this passion since 2016 with Floodlight Musicals e.V., Aachen\u2019s first musical theatre group. But the magic doesn\u2019t just happen in the spotlight: we put just as much heart and soul into designing the sets, costumes and technical aspects ourselves. Since the very beginning, we have been bringing people of all ages together and staging one or two productions a year. In 2023, we embarked on a film project which, thanks to over 180 volunteers \u2013 both in front of and behind the camera \u2013 achieved over 600,000 views on YouTube. In addition to acting, singing and community spirit, our strength lies in the live music provided by our orchestra and band, which makes every project special.<\/div>\n

philou. is an interdisciplinary student magazine published once a semester on an overarching theme. The magazine is distributed at various locations across the city, such as the university, bars and caf\u00e9s. We are an interdisciplinary editorial team who enjoy writing about and discussing societal challenges. That is why we aim to foster interdisciplinary discourse within RWTH and beyond. We give students from all disciplines the opportunity to publish their academic perspectives on a shared theme.<\/p>\n

We are a group of young people from migrant backgrounds. We regularly visit schools to talk to pupils about our educational journeys, the challenges we have faced and the successes we have achieved. Through our experiences, we aim to show what paths are possible and how varied life stories can be. We don\u2019t just talk about work placements, job applications or degree courses, but also about the things you often have to figure out for yourself: what it\u2019s like to find your own way without much support, how obstacles can sometimes hold you back, or how racism and exclusion can feel.
Such experiences shape us, and we know this first-hand. That is precisely why we want to show pupils that they are not alone with their questions and concerns. Our workshops are more like conversations than lessons. They are open, warm, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but always on an equal footing.
It gives us great pleasure when pupils say at the end: \u201cIt\u2019s good to know that others have been through the same thing.\u201d That is exactly why we do this.

First Generation Aachen e.V. supports students who are the first in their family to go to university. Many of them find their studies more challenging because their families often lack an understanding of the university system. We provide these students with guidance, a supportive environment and practical help.<\/p>\n
