For the anti-racism office of the student body’s equal opportunities project

Are you interested in equal opportunities work at your university, are you studying at RWTH and have already experienced racism? Would you like to take action against discrimination and promote anti-racism issues at RWTH? Would you like to provide advice and implement your own ideas for campaigns and events?Then apply for the anti-racism office set up by the RWTH student parliament!

Your tasks in the anti-racism office
  • Trusted point of contact for all students, student initiatives and student bodies who need to talk about racism
  • Be a mediator in conflict situations
  • Advice on racist experiences/incidents
  • Networking students who have experienced racism (e.g. regulars’ table for those affected and active/allies)
  • Promotion and public relations work for the anti-racism office
  • Organization of events
What should you bring with you?
  • Interest in helping your fellow students
  • Knowledge and experience on the topic of racism
  • Coping with stressful experiences
  • Communication and assertiveness skills
  • Discretion in dealing with information from those seeking help
  • Sensitivity and empathy
  • creativity
  • Fluency in English, conversational German skills
  • approx. 15 hours per week
  • Availability after the election for one year (until October 2025)
What can you expect?
The anti-racism office is the second pillar of the equality project. You will therefore work together with the two equality project officers, the other anti-racism officer and a team of other volunteers. You will be able to make lots of contacts and gain experience in project and time management. You will have many opportunities to implement your own projects and ideas and gain a good insight into university politics.
The anti-racism office is accountable to the student parliament. This means that you must be present at the meetings of the student parliament during the lecture period and report on your work and answer questions.
For your voluntary work, you will receive an expense allowance of €427 and a workplace in the AStA offices.

We will then invite you to an informal interview in calendar week 41 to get to know you a little better and to explain further details about the work of the Anti-Racism Office. The election for the anti-racism office is scheduled for the meeting of the student parliament on 16.10.24.
