Zero Carbon Lithium, Made in Germany
Lithium is a critical resource for the manufacturing of batteries in electric vehicles. To fully electrify our cars with lithium-ion batteries, we need a lot of lithium. Europe will need approximately 415 kt lithium hydroxide supply by 2029, greater than the entire global market today. Producing lithium from geothermal brines not only requires very little water and has a tiny land footprint but also creates energy and heat as by-products during production. Europe’s largest lithium resource, in the Upper Rhine Valley of Germany, is large enough to satisfy Europe’s lithium needs for many years to come.
