Deliver breakthrough engineering for a better world

Help solve industry’s newest and toughest challenges, Find ways to create safer, cleaner, more efficient technology. Start building an innovative engineering career.

At IMI, we improve everyday life through new thinking and technology. From a valve that can hold the force of a jet engine to heating systems that allow remote troubleshooting via the internet. You can be part of delivering the breakthrough engineering of the future.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll spend two years rotating through roles in one of our divisions, working on live projects, seeing the product lifecycle from end-to-end, and gaining experience of working in another country. By the end, you’ll have all the skills and exposure you need to kickstart your specialist engineering career.

Progressing through placements in Engineering, Commercial, Operations, Project Management and/or Growth Hub, you’ll discover how we create flow control technologies for applications where precision, speed and reliability are essential. Precision Engineering helps drive the essential systems we all rely on and Norgren, our customer-facing brand, is central to making that happen.

During your placement, you could potentially find solutions to all kinds of engineering challenges – everything from reducing emissions in commercial vehicles to supporting advances in diagnostic equipment and biotech.

There are two roles you could take up with our Engineering Graduate Programme: IA or Transportation.

An IA role consists of working with our products, which are used in production lines all over the world. They improve the performance of machinery and equipment, reduce downtime and provide energy savings.  Our product range is broad and includes, for example, valves, valve terminals, proportional and pressure monitoring controls, air preparation devices, and a comprehensive selection of pneumatic actuators, for example, piston rod and rodless actuators, round cylinders, or rotary actuators. All these premium products are used in a wide range of industries, from automotive and toolmaking to general industry.

In a Transportation role, you will work closely with our customers’ engineers who develop solutions that meet your needs. As specialists in mobile pneumatics, we provide fuel savings, emissions reductions, shorter assembly times and enhanced ride comfort for many of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers.

What you need
Our programme is highly international in nature. As well as having the right to work in Germany, it’s important that you are willing and able to relocate frequently, including to other countries.  In addition, you must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Technology related degree.

Key qualities we’re looking for include:
Fresh, innovative mindset
Openness to new and varied experiences
Ability to drive your development and take ownership of your career
Excellent written and spoken English, and local language fluency too

What we offer
On top of a great rewards package and an opportunity to gain international exposure, you’ll get early responsibility, experience of different functions, coaching from a dedicated senior mentor, and the chance to develop high-level technical skills – everything you need to get your career off to a flying start. The graduate development team will also be on hand to provide help and advice whenever you need it.
