Integreater
We are a group of young people from migrant backgrounds. We regularly visit schools to talk to pupils about our educational journeys, the challenges we have faced and the successes we have achieved. Through our experiences, we aim to show what paths are possible and how varied life stories can be. We don’t just talk about work placements, job applications or degree courses, but also about the things you often have to figure out for yourself: what it’s like to find your own way without much support, how obstacles can sometimes hold you back, or how racism and exclusion can feel.
Such experiences shape us, and we know this first-hand. That is precisely why we want to show pupils that they are not alone with their questions and concerns. Our workshops are more like conversations than lessons. They are open, warm, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but always on an equal footing.
It gives us great pleasure when pupils say at the end: “It’s good to know that others have been through the same thing.” That is exactly why we do this.
If you’d like to visit schools with us or simply see how we work, you can find our contact details here. We’re always delighted to welcome new people to our team.
