The purpose of the Dr. Alfred and Berta Oberholz Foundation is, in particular, to support students at RWTH Aachen. Dr. Oberholz was an alumnus of RWTH and, after completing his studies in chemistry and earning his doctorate, held various professional positions and shaped a number of companies and organizations throughout his career. As the first chairman of the University Council of RWTH Aachen, he made significant contributions to the strategic development of the university. In 2012, Dr. Oberholz passed away unexpectedly and, in his will, decreed the establishment of a foundation in his name.
