The Allgemeine Studierendenausschuss (AStA)
The AStA is the university-wide representative body for all students at RWTH Aachen University. We are elected annually by the student parliament. Our tasks include representing students in university policy matters vis-à-vis the university, the state, and the public; managing student financial resources; providing advice on a wide range of social and student issues; organizing a cultural program; and promoting political education.
Our tasks are divided into so-called departments, which you can think of as ministries, each consisting of between 5 and 15 people and headed by the respective department heads.
We collaborate with many other student groups and organizations, such as the student councils, the student body’s equality project, the student senators, the foreign students’ representative body (AV), and numerous student initiatives and associations.
